Tehran, IRNA – The following headlines appeared in English-language newspapers in the Iranian capital on Tuesday, April 25, 2023:

** IRNA DAILY

– Iran sanctions UK, EU individuals, entities for supporting terrorism

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stipulated individuals and legal entities from the EU and the UK in its sanction list for supporting terrorism and terrorist groups, instigating and encouraging terrorist acts and violence against Iranian people, interference in Iran’s domestic affairs, fomenting violence and unrest in Iran, dissemination of false information about Iran and participation in the escalation of cruel sanctions against Iranian people as “economic terrorism.”

– European states importing Iranian oil despite US sanctions

Three European Union (EU) countries imported oil from Iran in 2022 despite US sanctions that impose penalties on governments and entities involved in energy trade with Iran. Figures by EU’s statistics agency Eurostat covered in a Sunday report by the IRNA news agency showed that the bloc’s imports of crude oil from Iran had reached 4,181 metric tons (mt) last year.

– Iran’s de-escalation triangle

The old rivalry between the United States and China has now spread to the Middle East. The Bloomberg news agency even wrote, “The Middle East’s emergence as a key front in the new Cold War between the US and China has become even clearer.” But using the concept of the Cold War expired about 30 years ago. What we are witnessing now in the Middle East between the US and China is a hegemonic competition of sorts. In other words, it is a competition to become the region’s hegemon with new qualities.

– Yeah! They Burn Each Other Alive

The Iranian opposition which wanted to topple the Islamic Republic collapsed, revealing the immoralities of a force racked by internal disputes and depredation.  And it is even unfair to say that there is a single opposition front. Instead, it is safe to say that the affected unity among the Iranian opposition has become a thing of the past. Those opposition ringleaders who once were keen to put up a fake unity are now busy eviscerating each other in what appears to be a result of the unwitting recognition that their efforts to overthrow the Islamic Republic have ended in abysmal failure.

– Ayatollah Khamenei: Palestinian cause goes beyond Islamic world

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran has said the issue of occupied Palestine is a “human issue”. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks while delivering an address to foreign Muslim dignitaries and officials. “This year, when part of the crimes of the usurping Israeli regime, and some of the tragedies they had caused, were revealed to the world, you saw that people's gatherings and demonstrations on Quds Day were no longer exclusive to the Islamic world.”

– Iranian president to tour certain African countries

Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, will go to a number of African nations before the end of September, according to Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi, director of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s African Department. “The president will make visits to a number of African states in the first half of this year [until September 22],” he declared.

– UN Chief: Sudan ‘on Edge of Abyss’

Foreign nations pushed on Monday with evacuations of their citizens from chaos-torn Sudan which, the UN chief warned, is “on the edge of the abyss” after 10 days of brutal fighting between rival forces.

– Iran, Russia, Syria, Turkey Defense Ministers Meet

Russia will host a new round of talks on Tuesday aimed at normalization of ties between Ankara and Damascus, in the presence of Iran, said the Turkish defense ministry. Moscow is seeking to repair relations between its Syrian ally and Turkey, which were severed at the beginning of the war on Syria in 2011.

– Yemen Warns to Take War Within Saudi Arabia If Ceasefire Breached

Yemen’s Sana’a-based government has warned Saudi Arabia that they will strike the kingdom and its coalition allies if attacked, as the two sides continue to engage in talks to secure a lasting ceasefire.
